Abous Us
The Matthews Academy Of Irish Dancing is an open and inclusive Academy. Our aim is for each member of the class to achieve their individual potential through hard work and practice in a fun and welcoming environment.
The school name 'Matthews' is a tribute to Jennys mother Phyllis (Matthews is Phyllis's maiden name) as Phyllis has always encouraged her children to achieve their goals in life.
Jenny Wilson-Flower began her dancing career at the age of 8 years under the direction of Mary Nightingale. From the very beginning Jenny knew that she wanted to teach as she was always keen to help out at classes. Jenny obtained her T.C.R.G in 1991 and her ADCRG in 2005.
Since the opening of the school, pupils from the Matthews Academy have achieved national and World recognition in Solo dancing, Ceili dancing and Figure dancing. Pupils from the school have also gone onto perform in world acclaimed dance shows such as 'Lord of the Dance' and Riverdance'.
